CEE Group acquires 103.5 MWp solar park in the Netherlands from Ecorus Group

Hamburg-based CEE Group, asset manager for renewable energies, has acquired a ground-mounted solar park in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands, from Dutch project developer Ecorus Group. After completion, the Fledderbosch solar park will have a capacity of around 103.5‑megawatt peak (MWp). This means that the CEE Group has solar energy plants with a total capacity of over 350 MWp in the Netherlands alone.

The Hamburg-based CEE Group, asset manager for renewable energies, has acquired a ground-mounted solar park in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands, from the Dutch project developer Ecorus Group. The Fledderbosch ground-mounted solar park is currently under construction and will have a capacity of approximately 103.5 MWp upon completion. Ecorus is also the EPC partner for the construction of the park.

The signing and closing of the purchase agreement with the project developer Ecorus took place in February 2023. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Commissioning of the plant is planned for February 2024. The electricity will be purchased through the Dutch SDE++ support system for renewable energies and will have a fixed tariff for at least 15 years. The Netherlands is thus one of the few countries still operating with such a state-guaranteed tariff system.

The Fledderbosch solar park is being built about nine kilometres north of the city centre of Groningen on a brownfield site bordered by a sewage treatment plant to the southeast, a canal to the southwest and a country road and a small forest to the northwest. Numerous nature conservation measures are also planned as part of the development of the site. For example, the historic watercourse “Oude Kwens” will be restored, which flows through a floodplain reserved for birds, and five resting places and an education area will also be created.

Advantageous conditions in the Netherlands

“We have gained a new partner in the Netherlands with Ecorus Group. The Fledderbosch solar park is our first joint transaction, which, with a size of 103.5 MWp, represents another important building block in our growing Dutch PV portfolio. The Netherlands plays an important role here in our international portfolio of wind power and PV plants,” explains Detlef Schreiber, CEO of CEE Group. “We would like to thank Ecorus Group’s Dutch solar experts for the always professional and goal-oriented cooperation at eye level,” adds Franjo Salic, Head of International Investments at CEE Group about the cooperation.

Philippe Vanhoef, CEO and founder of Ecorus Energy, explains: “Our goal is to drive the expansion of onsite and offsite solar energy in Europe in the spirit of an international energy transition. The cooperation with the CEE Group is characterised by a high level of professionalism and expertise. This is an indispensable basis for the success of the cross-generational task of climate protection and energy security.”

About ECORUS GROUP:

The Dutch company Ecorus Group, headquartered in Eindhoven, is a specialist in onsite and offsite solar power plants. In addition, the company’s portfolio of services includes solutions for energy monitoring, energy management software, energy storage, energy hubs, cable pooling, virtual batteries, PPAs for companies. The goal is to accelerate the transition to carbon-free electricity. By 2030, Ecorus Group therefore aims to have realised 3,000 MWp of solar capacity, which is equivalent to the output of an average coal-fired power plant.
